Grandma Shook's Sugar Cookies



3 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
1 c. softened butter
1 egg, slightly beaten
3 tbsp. evaporated milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift dry ingredients. Cut in butter. Add egg, cream and vanilla. Blend thoroughly and chill. Roll on floured board and cut out with cookie cutters or biscuit cutter. Sprinkle sugar on tops. Bake 5 to 8 minutes at 400 degrees on ungreased cookie sheet. Very light brown when done.
